Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal are prepared to offer Lionel Messi a £194 million per season contract to sign as a free agent at the end of the season. The Argentine star’s contract with PSG expires at the end of 22/23, and there are currently no advanced negotiations over closing the deal.
The player’s father, Jorge, was spotted in Riyadh recently. Although he is a Saudi ambassador, the rumours linking his son with a move to Asia have intensified once again.

Politicians are reportedly getting involved in the matter and the country is willing to extend the salary limit in the Pro League to fund the transfer. However, the deal has not been confirmed as of yet.
On the back of the 2022 World Cup, there was a verbal agreement between Lionel Messi and PSG for a new contract. However, there hasn’t been any progress since then and the negotiations have seemingly stalled between the two parties. Now, it seems likely that he could end up leaving.
Even though the player himself has been in fine form, the club has had to endure a significant dip in form. They were recently knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich, in spite of having some of the best players in the world. And this has cast doubts on the futures of their biggest names.
Should Messi agree to a move to Saudi Arabia, he would be once again in opposition to his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portugal international moved to Saudi Arabia in the winter, joining Al-Nassr. However, Messi still has interest from the MLS and his former club, Barcelona, for a potential transfer.
