The two winners of the ISL Shield in 2021/22 and 2022/23, Jamshedpur FC and Mumbai City FC will play a match to determine the teams that makes it to the AFC Champions League 2023-24 Group Stage.
The AFC Cup Group Stage slot will be determined by a match between the 2021/22 I-League winners – Gokulam Kerala and the 2023 Hero Super Cup winners. If the winners of the Super Cup have already qualified for the AFC Cup, Kerala will automatically qualify. Moreover, if Gokulam Kerala win the Super Cup, they will also qualify for the AFC Cup.
Should the qualifying match be required, it will be played on 29 April.
The slot for the AFC Cup qualifiers will be contested between the two Cup winners. Last season, Hyderabad FC won the Cup and this season, either ATK Mohun Bagan or Bengaluru FC will.
If either team qualifies for Slot 2 through another method, then the opposing team will make it to the qualifiers by default.
The AFC competitions will take place later on in the summer, with India expected to take on the continent to try and better their results from yesteryears.
