NVIDIA’s partners are preparing to implement small but effective price cuts in order to clear out some existing GeForce GTX 16 and RTX 30 series GPU inventory. According to APAC-based Channel Analysts, it appears that demand for mainstream and older graphics cards has peaked, and some NVIDIA partners still have excess inventory of older GPUs such as the GeForce GTX 16 and RTX 30 series.
NVIDIA partners are expected to reduce prices by a small margin to address the low demand.
According to MyDrivers, these will be minor price reductions of around 30-50 Yuan, which is roughly $10 US. The GTX 1650 and GTX 1630, both of which are in the entry-level segment but are still popular when compared to other GPUs, will benefit the most from this price cut. It was earlier reported that the GeForce GTX 1650 is still the most popular gaming GPU in the Steam Hardware Survey database.
The rest of the mainstream lineup, which included the GTX 1660, GTX 1660 Ti, GTX 1660 SUPER, and RTX 2060 series, has mostly sold out. That leaves the GeForce GTX 16 series and a few RTX 30 series mainstream cards to clear off the shelves. This could also explain why NVIDIA has yet to release the RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 series.
To offload the excess of GA104 and GA106 GPUs, the RTX 3060 was recently upgraded to the new GDDR6X memory interface. There is a possibility of larger price cuts of 100-150 RMB for the higher-end RTX 30 series cards, but NVIDIA is concerned about the inventory of its older high-end GPUs.
