Man City’s goalkeeper, Ederson, has achieved the feat of becoming the third-fastest goalkeeper in Premier League history to reach 100 clean sheets. Ederson kept his 100th Premier League clean sheet in Saturday’s 2-0 home win against Newcastle United.
Having a clean sheet of this number is indeed worthy of a great celebration, and the Brazilian can take extra pride in being in this rank in a total of 208 matches. Before him go Petr Cech and Pepe Reina, who played for Chelsea and Liverpool, respectively.
Petr Cech
In this list of top 3, first comes the name of Petr Cech, who has the record of being the fastest to 100 clean sheets. He achieved this feat during his time for Chelsea on 13 Apr 2010 and is only among the two to be quicker than Ederson, who recently achieved this record. Though records are meant to be broken in sports, some records seem like they would be just a dream to achieve. The record of Petr Cech seems so, as he achieved this only in 180 appearances.
Pepe Reina
Next in this list comes the name of Pepe Reina, who is also among the all-time greats of the Premier League. Reina played for Liverpool while achieving this feat of being the second fastest to reach 100 clean sheets, and he achieved it in the same year of Petr Cech just a few months after on 6 Dec 2010. He achieved this feat in 198 games.
Ederson
Last but not least, as it is known to you all, the newest member in its list is Manchester City’s Ederson, who secured this achievement on 4 Mar 2023 in his 208 appearances. Apart from these three, greats like Peter Schmeichel while playing for Man United, David Seaman for Arsenal, and Edwin van der Sar for Man Utd achieved these feats too.
