Roberto Firmino is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, when his contract expires. The player has personally informed Jurgen Klopp of his decision, and will take on a new challenge next season.
He was offered a new deal by the club, but has rejected their offer after talking to his family. And now, after spending eight years with the club and winning every trophy available to him with the Merseyside club, he will seek a new club to play for as a free agent.
Roberto Firmino to leave Liverpool as a free agent at the end of the season
Last year, it was Sadio Mane who left the club. And this time around, Firmino is the one leaving the club. The fabled trio of Salah, Mane and Firmino has now become history as the club seeks to build a new project with new players.
The Brazilian has struggled with injuries this season, which have limited his appearances. But over the last 15 years, he established himself as a vital player in Klopp’s setup which helped him establish the club as a powerhouse in England and Europe.
Roberto Firmino has not started for the team since November, in spite of having a remarkable start to the season. He also surprisingly missed out on a call-up to the Brazil national team for the 2022 World Cup. And since then, things haven’t been the same for the 31-year-old.
It now remains to be seen which club lines up to sign Firmino, given his experience at the highest level and his versatility in attack.
