Marcus Rashford has been officially credited with the second goal of the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United. Manchester United won the final 2-0 to win their first trophy since 2017, and Rashford continued his red-hot scoring streak with a goal in the final.

His effort hit the outstretched leg of Newcastle centre-back Sven Botman before going past Loris Karius. And at the time, it was given as an own goal by Botman. But now, it has been officially awarded to the England international, meaning he has scored 17 goals in 19 games since the World Cup.

“It’s a mixture of all the emotions. It’s massive for us to be involved in these types of games and it’s something we’ve missed as a club,” Marcus Rashford said after winning the Carabao Cup.

“The fact we’ve come all this way and won it, it’s a massive feeling. Hopefully it pushes us now to keep going. There’s hunger to add more finals like this. I’ve been in finals where we’ve won and lost. It’s massive for us as a club and individuals and it’s part of our history. We want to keep adding to that.”

The forward is currently the most in-form player in the Premier League, and has scored 25 goals across all competitions. Should he keep up his incredible form, he could become the first player to reach the 30-goal mark since Robin Van Persie from all the way back in 2012/13.
