The Sixth Edition of Google for India just successfully conducted yesterday and due to the pandemic, it was conducted over the internet. The entire an hour event was forwarded by the CEO of Google and Alphabet Sundar Pichai, Sanjay Gupta: the Country head and Vice President of Google India, Caesar Sengupta: the Vice President of Payments and Next Billion Users in Google, and Sapna Chadha: the Senior Country Marketing Director of Google India and Southeast Asia. Apart from them, there was also the Hon’ble Minister of Communications, Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice of India Mr. Ravi Sankar Prasad, and the Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.
While sharing the thoughts of Google about India, the Alphabet and Google CEO announced their plan to invest more than ₹75000 crores which is $10 billion in India in the next five to seven years, and the Search Engine giant will make these investments through the Google for India Digitization Fund.
He said, “We’ll do this through a mix of equity investments, partnerships, and operational, infrastructure and ecosystem investments. This is a reflection of our confidence in the future of India and its digital economy.”
There are some specific areas where Google is going to focus:
- Implementation of technologies and AI in some really needy sections like education, health, and agriculture
- Developing new products and services that fulfill unique India’s unique needs
- Make available and affordable all useful information in each Indian’s own language
- Support all sizes of businesses to go online
Sundar Pichai also said, “There’s still more work to do in order to make the internet affordable and useful for a billion Indians…from improving voice input and computing for all of India’s languages, to inspiring and supporting a whole new generation of entrepreneurs,”
