Ivan Ilic is set to join Olympique Marseille on a permanent transfer from Hellas Verona. Although the deal has been agreed in the January transfer window, he will be making the move at the end of the season in June.
The French club were in the market for several midfielders, such as Leandro Trossard and Ruslan Malinovskyi. While Trossard joined Arsenal, they were able to persuade Malinovskyi to sign on a loan with option to buy. As a result, Ilic has been identified as the best possible target and has agreed to a move in the summer.

The midfielder represented Serbia at the 2022 World Cup, and attracted interest from other clubs like Lazio in Serie A. However, Marseille have won the race to sign him since the deal has been given the here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano.
Verona will receive €15 million plus €3 million in add-ons for the midfielder. A contract until 2028 has been agreed between him and his new club. And now, it is only a matter of time before the deal is fully completed.
Ivan Ilic has earned a reputation for being a very hard worker in the middle of the park. And he could replace Matteo Guendouzi at the club, if the exit rumours surrounding the French midfielder are indeed true.
There is currently no official confirmation from the Ligue 1 club about the move, but it could be revealed before the end of the season.
