Newcastle United have embarked on a 15-match unbeaten run in the Premier League, which continued as they drew 0-0 against Crystal Palace.
This is their third goalless draw in their last five games, and goes on to show their troubles in front of goal following the World Cup break. Aside from the 3-0 win against Leicester City on Boxing Day, the Magpies have only managed one other goal, in their win against Fulham last week.
Newcastle United continue unbeaten run despite goal troubles
Eddie Howe’s men looked the better side for most of their game against Palace, but were unable to find a goal to show for it. Kieran Trippier maintained his brilliant form for the black and white outfit, posing a constant threat from set-pieces and the right flank.
They have offloaded Chris Wood to Nottingham Forest and currently have Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson as the go-to centre-forwards. But a lot depends on whether or not they can produce in front of the goal, from this stage of the season.
Their impressive defensive record has helped them gain a goal difference of 22, which keeps them ahead of Manchester United. But, Newcastle United will need to find a way to turn the draws into wins if they are to remain in third place and continue their ambitious quest for Champions League football.
