Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes will be in England in the coming hours to complete his transfer to Wolves. The Premier League club have agreed a transfer with Flamengo, and will be paying a sum worth €17 million for the midfielder.
Once he arrives in the country and has completed his medical assessment, it will be only a matter of time before the formalities are completed and he is announced as a new player for the Midlands team.

Gomes will be signing a five-year deal with the team, as revealed by several sources. Liverpool and Newcastle United were in the race to sign the midfielder, but have lost out to Wolves. He revealed back in September that his biggest ambition is to play for Liverpool and in the Champions League, but that will have to wait for the time being.
With Flamengo, he won several trophies including the Copa Libertadores, and is now set to take on a new challenge in Europe.
Wolves have already spent a considerable amount of money during the January transfer window. They made Matheus Cunha’s loan deal from Atletico Madrid permanent for €50 million, and have signed Mario Lemina from Nice. Joao Gomes is set to be the next acquisition for them, followed by Pablo Sarabia from PSG for €5 million plus add-ons.
After their seemingly crazy spending spree, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to avoid relegation this season. Julen Lopetegui will have some great new players to work with, and he will be expected to deliver a return on investment in the form of safety in the top flight.
