Much expectedly, Asus after a big hit of its recent TUF Gaming A15 laptops with Ryzen 4000H gaming processors in India, the Taiwanese OEM has brought its budget end VivoBook laptops with the latest Ryzen 4000U APUs. But to my surprise, the word “budget” does not fit in with the pricing its currently available at.
Both the ASUS VivoBook S14 M433IA laptops come with the 6 core Ryzen 5 4500U & 8 core Ryzen 7 4700U and do have some interesting features but the 4500U variant will cost you ₹ 65,000 while the Ryzen 7 4700U variant will cost you ₹ 75,000.
The design of the laptop is quite similar to its predecessors with almost 85% screen-to-body ratio but has large bezels on the top and bottom of the screen. But the laptop is a light one and the colours of the laptop make it look quite funky but it does not have a metal unibody whereas a plastic body with diamond-cut edges and textured finishes.
The laptop is incredibly thin with just 15.9 mm thickness, making it much more portable while it comes with 4 colour variants: Indie Black, Gaia Green, Resolute Red, Dreamy White. However, on Amazon, there are two of them available: Indie Black & Dreamy White.
Coming to the display, the new ASUS VivoBook S14 features a 14-inch Full HD display with 178 degree wide viewing angles, 16:9 aspect ratio and covers an impressive 100% sRGB colour gamut.
For performance as told previously you have two options:
- AMD Ryzen 7 4700U Mobile Processor(8C/8T, 12MB Cache, 4.1 GHz Max Boost)
- AMD Ryzen 5 4500U Mobile Processor(6C/6T, 11MB Cache, 4.0 GHz Max Boost)
The integrated Vega iGPU is very strong for light to heavy workloads including casual gaming as well, making the laptop even more valuable. For RAM you have 8GB / 16GB 2666MHz DDR4 options but it’s soldered so buy a 16GB variant is available for better performance both on the CPU and GPU front. Coming to the storage, you get 256GB / 512GB / 1TB PCIe SSD options.
It has a wide range of ports including 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 2 x USB 2.0, 1 x HDMI port, 1 x Audio combo jack, 1 x MicroSD card reader and a DC-in jack. The laptop features a full-size backlit keyboard with 1.4mm key travel along with Glass-covered with integrated NumberPad2.0, whereas for audio we have Harman Kardon certified speakers.
On the connectivity front, you get the latest Intel Wi-Fi 6 with Gig+ performance (802.11ax) and Bluetooth v5.0 support. For battery, you get a decent 50Wh 3-cells lithium-polymer battery which supports fast charging: 60% in 49 minutes.
