Leeds United are set to smash their transfer record to sign Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim. The Premier League club have agreed a €40 million deal for the player, and are expected to make his arrival official very soon.
The previous record transfer that Leeds made was for Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia, which was worth £20 million. They made the deal after they returned to the Premier League after a lengthy absence in 2020, and are now investing more into their squad.
Leeds United to sign Georginio Rutter in the coming hours
The player has landed in Leeds to complete his medical assessment. And once the formalities have all been completed, an official announcement will be made confirming him as a new signing.
Leeds United are quite ambitious about the current season. They are currently in 14th place with 17 points from as many games. But, they are pushing for a top half finish and their intent has been made clear by their investment in an attacking talent like Georginio Rutter.
They have also signed Max Wober from RB Salzburg to bolster their defense and ensure that their performances improve.
The striker has scored two goals and provided two assists in 15 Bundesliga games this season. At only 20, he has a lot of room to grow and he matches the profile that Jesse Marsch is trying to have at the club.
The France U21 international is set to sign a long-term contract with the Yorkshire club until 2028. And it now remains to be seen how he develops at his new club.
