Among the current cricketers, Virat Kohli has been the highest run-getter from India. The cricketer smashed 1644 runs altogether. In that particular year, he gathered 1381 runs, his highest being 117. In T20Is, he mustered 61 runs and in test cricket, he mustered 202 runs with an average of 22.44. In that year, he made his test debut against West Indies.
2. Virat Kohli (2012)– 2186
The second name is yet again Kohli. He mustered a total of 2186 runs. In ODI he scored 1026 runs, 689 runs in the test, and 471 runs in T2OIS. He scored his debut century against Sri Lanka. His 133 in 86 deliveries led India to the second-highest run-chase by a team in Australia.
3. Virat Kohli (2013)- 1913
In 2013, Kohli hit 1268 runs in ODI 616 runs in Test, and only 29 runs in T20Is. His 52-ball century against Australia in Jaipur is the fastest by an Indian player. In that match, India successfully chased a total of 300 plus against Australia for the first time.

This year saw Kohli accumulating 2286 runs. In ODI he mustered 1054 runs, 847 in Tests, and 385 runs in T20Is. In that year he smashed 8 centuries and ended up as the highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup gathering 319 runs.
5. Ajinkya Rahane (2015)-1506
In 2015, Ajinkya Rahane was the highest run-getter from India. He gathered 876 runs in ODI, 593 runs in the Test, and 37 in the T20I. In that year’s World Cup he scored 79 against South Africa at Melbourne Stadium which was a memorable knock.
6. Virat Kohli (2016)- 2595
In 2016, he mustered 739 runs in ODI, 1215 runs in the test format, and 641 runs in the T20I. This year is considered one of his best years. He led India to three successive Test series wins in 2016.
7. Virat Kohli (2017)- 2818
The former Indian skipper finished 2017 with 2818 international runs across all formats. He mustered 1059 runs in Test, 1460 in 26 ODIs, and 299 runs in T20Is. He hammered 11 centuries along with three double hundreds.
8. Virat Kohli (2018)- 2735
Kohli mustered 11 centuries and nine half-centuries in 2018. This year he also breached the 1000 mark the fastest. In the Test, he mustered 1322, 1202 in ODI, and 211 in the T20Is.
9. Virat Kohli (2019)- 2455
Kohli scored 1377 runs in the ODI format, 612 in tests, and 466 runs in 10 T20Is. He ended the year on a high note, with 85 runs in 81 balls against West Indies. The second-highest run scorer from India was Rohit Sharma.
10. KL Rahul (2020)- 847
KL Rahul featured in this list for the first time as he gathered 847 runs across all the formats. the vice-captain of India gathered 443 runs in ODI, and 404 runs in the T20I format. he joined Kohli. Rohit and Babar in this run-scoring record.
11. Rohit Sharma (2021)- 1420
The men in blue’s current skipper Rohit Sharma has been outstanding in all the formats smashing 1420 runs. he mustered 484 runs in T20I, 90 in ODI, and 846 in Test cricket.
12. Sreyas Iyer (2022)-1609
Surprisingly, Shreyas Iyer leaves players like Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav behind to be the highest run scorer. In ODIs, he amassed 724 runs, 463 runs in T20Is and 261 in Test cricket. He also achieved the fastest Indian to cross 1500 runs in ODI.
