KL Rahul set to continue leading India in the second Test against Bangladesh since Rohit Sharma gets ruled out owing to injury issues

After missing the first Test, Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be missing the second test against Bangladesh. His plan was to travel to Dhaka on Sunday but due to his injury, he will be taking rest and recovering from his injury. He had to drop his plan for this reason. He will join others for the Srilanka series that starts on January 3, next year. In his absence, standby skipper KL Rahul will be leading the team for the second test.

In the 1st Test, led by KL Rahul, India won against Bangladesh by 1-0. He received the initial clearance from the NCA for his thumb injury but his thumb didn’t recover completely. His thumb was dislocated while taking a catch in the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh.

As per reports, The Indian skipper still has stiffness in his thumb. In the Test series against Australia, his presence is very important and the team management didn’t want to rush his comeback. Rohit is fit to bat currently but not at a good place to field.

In the 2nd ODI, Rohit dived low to take a catch but he failed and injured himself. He returned back and KL Rahul took the lead.

“Rohit had gone back to India after hurting his left thumb while fielding in the second ODI against Bangladesh in Mirpur on December 7. Abhimanyu Easwaran has come in as his replacement. About Rohit, we may be able to know (his status) in the next day or two, even I am not aware of it,” KL  Rahul said at the post-match press conference

In the third ODI, he came to bat at no.9 and stored a half-century in 27 deliveries. Though India lost the series, he won hearts with his dedication for the game.

Meanwhile, Abhimanyu Easwaran is Rohit Sharma’s replacement for the 2nd test against Bangladesh.
