Akasa launches the Gem Pro: a stylish, fanless case for the Raspberry Pi 4

Raspberry Pi 4 is very popular among enthusiasts who want to experience computing along with portability and there are a lot of people who use it for daily computing. Recently, Akasa has launched a unique Raspberry Pi 4 fanless case called the Gem Pro, made with a striking design of pure aluminium and with easy access to all external connectors.

The Gem Pro case

The Gem Pro is the ideal case to utilise the Raspberry Pi 4, whilst a custom thermal kit ensures maximum heat dissipation from RPi 4’s powerful CPU for optimal performance without the noise or dust damage that comes with an active case.

Through the Gem Pro, a beautiful, contemporary design with silver sandblasted anodised aluminium has been successfully
implemented to beautifully case your Raspberry Pi 4, whilst also functioning as a powerful heat sink, keeping your computer cool in complete silence. The case will look great in any environment, whether it is used to build a home theatre or media centre, games console, media server or any other IoT Raspberry Pi project you decide to take on, and at a size of only 96 x 75.6 x 34.3 mm, will fit anywhere you need at your convenience.

I/O

The Gem Pro provides convenient use of the Raspberry Pi 4 by providing easy access to all the external connections, including the GPIO, USB 2.0 and 3.0, Ethernet and HDMI ports and a USB-C power supply. This makes the case suitable for any application of the Pi board, which also supports wireless LAN and Bluetooth 5.0, particularly the dual micro HDMI openings which support two 4K displays.

This allows you to connect two monitors for maximum enjoyment and productivity, whether you’re creating a smart home or using your RPi 4 for education. 4K supporting micro HDMI to HDMI cables can be found on Akasa’s website, alongside more Pi 4 accessories such as USB-C power adaptors and cables supporting VGA.

Optimal thermal performance

The Gem Pro comes with a customised thermal kit, consisting of two aluminium blocks, three thermal pads and compound, which dissipate heat away from the hot zones to the heatsink top cover. This kit was designed specifically for the processing power of Raspberry Pi 4’s high-performance quad-core processor, dual 4K video capabilities and up to 8GB of RAM to effectively keep the Pi cool and ensuring the system runs optimally.
