Manchester United are pushing to extend Diogo Dalot’s contract. The club sees him as an important part of the future project, and is very impressed with the way he is performing for Portugal in the World Cup as well.

As a result, they are stepping up their efforts to try and get the defender to commit to a new deal. His current contract expires in 2023, but like all contracts that Manchester United offers, there is an option to extend the deal for a further year. Which means that Dalot could stay until 2024 on his current contract.

Talks over a new contract for the right-back have been in the works for several months now. This is particularly true because he is one of the players that has benefited the most out of the arrival of Erik Ten Hag.

There were rumours suggesting that United were eyeing a swap deal involving Diogo Dalot. Their target was Denzel Dumfries of Inter Milan, who has been very impressive for Netherlands during the 2022 World Cup.

And the rumours suggested that the offer to be made was €30 million plus Diogo Dalot moving the other way. Interestingly, Dalot has played for AC Milan on loan in the past. And this would create a rather tense reaction among the fans for him. Moreover, the news surrounding his renewal suggests that it is unlikely to take place.

United are also planning to seal Aaron Wan-Bissaka during the January transfer window, and sign a backup right-back to challenge Dalot, and provide cover for him when needed.
