England advanced to the quarter finals of the 2022 World Cup with a 3-0 win over Senegal. The Three Lions will be facing defending champions France in their last eight fixture for a spot in the semi-finals.
Gareth Southgate’s team has had the most individual goalscorers of any edition in the past, with eight different players finding the back of the net. They have also scored 12 goals this tournament, a drastic improvement from the Nations League fixtures prior to the trip to Qatar.
England move past Senegal and into the World Cup quarter finals
Bukayo Saka and Jordan Henderson made it to the starting line-up, with the former inviting some uproar from fans. Marcus Rashford was rotated despite being their top scorer at the World Cup so far.
But, Henderson opened the scoring for his country, assisted by Jude Bellingham who had a remarkable game. Phil Foden was in top form once again, assisting Harry Kane’s first goal at the tournament and Bukayo Saka’s strike as well.
Senegal, on the other hand, will be wondering how different it could have been with Sadio Mane’s presence in the team. They weren’t quite at par with England, who have been playing remarkably.
