Max Verstappen has won the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, ending the F1 season with 15 wins – which is a record. The Dutchman already surpassed Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher’s tally of 13 in a season, and now holds the record for himself.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was able to finish second and deny Red Bull a perfect end to the season with a one-two. Sergio Perez, as a result, completed the podium by finishing third.

Mercedes, on the other hand, had a day to forget with George Russell serving a penalty for unsafe release while Lewis Hamilton was unable to finish due to mechanical failure.
In what was Sebastian Vettel’s final career race, the German was named the Driver of the Day at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as he finished 10th.
“It was a good race. It was all about tyre management. I think we looked after the Mediums quite well and then on the hard tyres. We were managing from lap one to the end. Incredible to win against here and fifteenth win of the season is unbelievable,” Verstappen said as Red Bull ended the season with both titles.
A break of several months will begin now before the 2023 season resumes with new drivers and a fresh title challenge.
