AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 ‘Storm Peak’ CPUs Spotted

The Einstein @ Home database has two next-generation AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 “Storm Peak” CPUs with up to 96 cores and 192 threads. We are all aware that AMD is developing the Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series of processors, which will be the company’s next-generation Threadripper family.

The ‘Storm Peak’ family of CPUs will come with up to 96 cores and 192 threads. We discovered a 64-core and 128-thread part leak in the same database back in September, and now we are looking at an even more advanced processor.

The OPN codes “100-000000884-21 N” and “100-000000884-20 Y” are found on AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 CPUs. The core configuration on both processors is identical, with 96 cores, 192 threads, and 480 MB of total cache (384 MB L3 + 96 MB L2). These chips were tested on a motherboard with 128 GB DDR5 RAM and a Radeon PRO W6400 GPU, which more or less verifies their workstation nature. They will make use of the 12 CCD Zen 4 die.

The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 Desktop CPUs will be manufactured on TSMC’s 5nm node and include up to 96 cores and 192 threads based on the Zen 4 core architecture.

The new CPUs, which will replace the current “Chagall” family, are exclusively intended for high-end and power-hungry workstation users. They probably use the same die, but with some sections deactivated for typical customers, since the core count is the same as the EPYC Genoa parts.

The Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series, which will be powered by AMD’s next-generation Zen 4 cores and is scheduled to launch in 2023, was confirmed by AMD in their desktop roadmap. There is no information on what platform will support these chips, but it is certain that it won’t be the SP3 or the current TR40 or WRX80 series because the new chips are significantly larger and need a larger socket.
