England lifted the T20 World Cup for the second time by defeating Pakistan. Ben Stokes took led the team to victory and even smashed his first-ever T20I half-century. Pakistan scored only 138-7 but the win didn’t come easy to England as well. Pakistan could have defended the total but in the last five overs the entire game was changed as Stokes and Moeen Ali smashed some good hits. Sam Curran was declared the player of the match and player of the tournament for his outstanding bowling performance.

England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam opened the innings but in the fifth over Rizwan was sent back to the pavilion by Sam Curran for 15 runs. Mohammad Haris came next but he was dismissed at 8 runs by Adil Rashid. Shan Masood filled his place. Sam Curran again dismissed Shan Masood for 38 runs off 28 deliveries once again.
In the final overs, Jordan scalped Mohammad Wasim Jr’s wicket for 4 runs and restricted Pakistan to 137/8. England initially had a hard time since they were reduced to 45/3 before the powerplay. England lost its opener, Alex Hales, in the first over. Soon, Jos Buttler was joined by Phil Salt. Naseem shah leaked runs in the over leaking three fours. Haris Rauf dismissed Phil Salt for just 10 runs. He dismissed Jos Buttler for 26 off 17 balls.
Stokes and Brook brought England back on the right track. Soon, Shadab Khan scalped Brook’s wicket. Moeen Ali smashed two boundaries coming from Mohammad Wasim. Ali and Stokes together had a run stand of 48 runs. In the death overs, England needed 6 runs off 10 deliveries and the scorecard at this time was 132/5. Ben Stokes got the winning runs and England ended at 138/5 in 19 overs.
