Recent reports have claimed that OPPO may announce the Reno 9 series of smartphones later this month (November) in China. Speculations are rife that the Reno 9 may arrive with the Snapdragon 778G Plus, while the Reno 9 Pro could be equipped with the Dimensity 8200 chip. A new leak, courtesy of reliable tipster Digital Chat Station suggests that the Reno 9 Pro+ may come equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 mobile platform. The leak also mentions the other specs of the device.
OPPO Reno9 Pro Plus
OPPO Reno 9 series could debut in China later this month. The spec sheet of the three phones has leaked ahead of the official launch. According to DCS, the Reno 9 Pro+ 5G will feature Qualcomm’s current flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. It is being rumoured that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC could arrive on November 15. That being said, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC could offer, more or less, the same level of performance and efficiency.
Reno 9 Pro+ 5G will feature a tripe-camera setup on the back. It will feature a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera, which could be seen as a welcome change over the much redundant 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera. It will support optical image stabilisation (OIS). The camera setup is also likely to include an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro sensor. DCS claims that the device will pack a 4700mAh battery, which is slightly bigger than the Reno 8 Pro+ 5G’s 4500mAh cell. It will support 80W fast charging out of the box.
OPPO Reno9 Pro
The Reno 9 Pro, which will sit as a middle child in the upcoming series, will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max SoC. The Reno 9 Pro will include a 4500 mAh battery. While the battery capacity is the same as the Reno 8 Pro 5G, the 9 Pro will support 67W fast charging out of the box. Some might look at this as a downgrade on paper. However, the real-world difference between the charging speeds is marginal.
It will sport a dual-camera setup on the back. The main camera will be the same as the Reno 9 Pro+ 5G, which is the 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor. It will be accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide camera. Both, the Reno 9 Pro and Reno 9 Pro+ 5G, will feature OPPO’s custom MariSilicon X NPU for better photo and video performance, especially in lowlight.
OPPO Reno9
DCS claims that the Reno 9 series will feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ display with 120Hz refresh rate support and 2160Hz PWM. The AMOLED display will be curved and offer support for a billion colours. The chin size is also said to be minimal at 2.3mm.
Reno 9 will pack a Snapdragon 778G SoC. It will have the same charging speed and battery capacity as the Pro model. This means that the vanilla model will pack a 4500mAh battery and support 67W fast charging.
