NVIDIA’s RTX 40-series GPUs are here and that means finally the RTX 4080 is already in the hands of some fortunate and so we get to see the expected performance we can expect out of this consumer-grade flagship card. Well, it’s not as monstrous as the RTX 4090 which is way beyond the reach of many but this 16GB GDDR6X RTX 4080 will be a gamer’s dream in 2022.
Now, as last year RTX 3080 was not a good performer in a few productivity benchmarks like 3DMark where we recently showed how even a $500 card i.e. RX 6800 XT OC can dominate it. However, this time the RTX 4080 seems to be a monster in terms of absolute 3DMark scores, where in TimeSpy, @Zed_Wang has shown the GPU can score up to 28,599 points in graphics.
Now, if you check our database of scores, when you compare the RTX 4080’s scores against the vanilla RTX 3080, the newer Ada Lovelace card is almost 60% faster in graphics. Well, this is a huge uplift in productivity performance and that goes to show the improvements NVIDIA has brought this time around.
While in TimeSpy Extreme, while our RTX 3080 scored previously 7128 points in graphics, the RTX 4080 tested by @Zed_Wang made as much as 14,178 points. Yes, at an MSRP of $1,199, you are getting a phenomenal performance bump when compared to the previous gen in terms of productivity and we suggest enthusiasts wait for the card.
