Chelsea 1-1 Manchester United: Casemiro’s goal rescues point at death

As evidenced historically, the game between Chelsea and Manchester United ended in a 1-1 draw. This is the 26th time in history that the two teams have drawn in the Premier League, which is the most of any fixture in the top flight. 

Casemiro scored his first goal for Manchester United with a towering header in injury time to salvage a point. The goal was given by the finest of margins, only just clearing the goal-line after Kepa Arrizabalaga managed to get a hand to it. 

Chelsea draw with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge 

United looked the more dominant side in the first half, and were able to trouble Chelsea defenders a lot. But, neither team was able to muster more than a handful of close chances. 

Raphael Varane left the pitch in tears, after sustaining an injury that could potentially rule him out for the 2022 World Cup. The Frenchman stayed down after minimal contact, suggesting that he had pulled a muscle. 

The scoring opened late in the game courtesy of a penalty converted by Jorginho. The Italian sent David De Gea the wrong way after Scott McToninay fouled Armando Broja in the build-up to a corner. 

But their lead wouldn’t last long, as Casemiro was able to beat Kepa despite him managing to meet the ball. With the draw, Chelsea remain in the top four only one point ahead of Manchester United who are fifth.
