Manchester United will be without Cristiano Ronaldo when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend. The decision to drop the number 7 has been confirmed by the club in an official statement.
“Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture,” the statement read.
Cristiano Ronaldo to face disciplinary action for leaving Manchester United stadium early
The veteran refused to come on as a substitute late during the game against Tottenham Hotspur, and proceeded to walk out of Old Trafford in the 89th minute. Ronaldo didn’t head to the locker room, but instead proceeded to storm out of the stadium altogether.
He had done this before during a friendly against Rayo Vallecano, and Erik Ten Hag was quite critical of Ronaldo’s actions at the time. Now, he has been dropped from the squad for the trip to London and he will also be training alone.
The Manchester United board is completely backing Erik Ten Hag, whose relationship with Ronaldo seems completely broken. If a suitable offer for him arrives, the manager will be happy to let him go. The player wanted to leave this summer as well, but United refused to acknowledge that he was up for sale.
Now, it seems like the Portugal international’s second spell at United is on numbered days until the January transfer window.
