The Women’s Asia Cup T20 final saw India lifting the cup for the seventh time by defeating Sri Lanka. Smriti Mandhana’s half-century made the team win by eight wickets. The final was held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, October 15.

Renuka Singh bagged three wickets and won the player of the match title. Rajeshwaru Gayakwad and Sneh Rana picked two wickets for Sri Lanka. The team posted a total of 65 runs in their innings.

The final was completely dominated by India in the second innings. Batters like SHafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues returned to the pavilion quickly but Smriti Mandhana was at her best registering a half-century in 25 balls that helped the team win.

Player of the Match (FINAL)– Renuka Singh won $1000 which is approximately Rs 82,000.

Player of the Tournament– Deepti Sharma won $2000 which is approximately Rs 1,64,000.

India won seven out of eight Asia Cup titles, losing out to Bangladesh only in 2018. The women in blue defeated Pakistan twice and Sri Lanka five times to lift the cup in the past 18 years. Women’s cricket is slowly becoming mainstream in India and their consistent performance can be act as a huge motivation to the girls who are looking forward to make a career in this sport.
