Redmi A1+ launched with a 5,000mAh battery, MediaTek Helio A22 and more

The Redmi A1 made its debut last month in India via Xiaomi. After the Redmi Go in 2019, it is the company’s second Android Go-powered smartphone.

A plus version of the A1 has been the subject of numerous leaks over the past few weeks. In Kenya, the Redmi A1+ smartphone is now essentially official.

On October 7, the Redmi A1 Plus is expected to arrive in Kenya, according to the company’s official social media accounts. On Jumia, the phone is already up for sale.

The Redmi A1+ is identical to the Redmi A1, as the leaks had claimed. The inclusion of a fingerprint sensor on the back is the sole difference.

Redmi A1 plus features

Thus, the phone has a 6.52-inch display with a dewdrop notch and a 1600 x 720 (HD+) resolution. The 20:9 panel supports an NTSC colour gamut of 70%, 400 nits of peak brightness, and a 120Hz touch sampling rate.

The phone’s MediaTek Helio A22 CPU, along with LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 storage, power it. It comes with a 5,000mAh battery with a 10W charging cable used to power Android 12 Go Edition while it is booting.

The device sports a front-facing 5MP camera and an 8MP rear camera with help from a 0.3MP depth sensor. Dual-SIM, 4G, single-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GNSS, and a MicroUSB port are among its connectivity features. The gadget also has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a dedicated MicroSD card slot.

Redmi A1 pricing with availability

The Redmi A1+ is available in three colours and has dimensions of 164.9 x 76.5 x 9.1mm. It also weighs 192g (black, blue, and green).

For a single 3GB + 32GB memory configuration, this smartphone costs KSh 10,345 ($85) in Kenya. Blue and black colour options are available for purchase on Jumia.

In the coming days, Xiaomi should expand the markets where its low-cost smartphones are sold.
