United Arab Emirates club Shabab Al Ahli have completed the signing of Jason Denayer on a free transfer. The player has been without a club since leaving Lyon upon the expiry of his contract on July 1, and has now signed for his new club.
The length of the contract he has signed for the Dubai-based club is one year, which means he might be on the move again next year when his deal runs out. This is unless he renews with them down the line.
Jason Denayer officially signs for Shabab Al Ahli
The Belgian centre-back was recently on international duty in the Nations League as well. And he did so without playing for a club at the time.
Wolves were leading the race, and eventually win it to sign the central defender. West Ham United and Leicester City were also among the sides interested in bringing over the player. However, no agreement was reached even though he was in advanced negotiations with Wolves.
Denayer has had previous spells in the Premier League with Manchester City and Sunderland, which made a return to the Premier League likely. However, he has decided to try a new experience despite having several years left at the top, and is now out of European football for the coming season.
