At one point in the summer it almost seemed inevitable that Kylian Mbappe would join Real Madrid as a free agent. The Frenchman’s contract with PSG was expiring, and there seemed to be little hope for a renewal. He had always spoken about imitating Cristiano Ronaldo, his idol, wearing the white shirt.
But the transfer never happened, and Mbappe ended up staying at PSG with a new contract until 2025. The Ligue 1 side are working from beforehand to avoid losing him on a free transfer then, and are preparing to sell him in case a good offer arrives.
Kylian Mbappe not to be pursued by Real Madrid
But considering the last minute swerve made by the forward this summer, it seems unlikely that Real Madrid will go back to sign him later. They are insistent about not changing their position on the player after things didn’t work out this year.
And as a result, a transfer battle would not see Los Blancos bid for the France international. The fans were very unhappy about the situation as well, and it would be interesting to see if they would accept the player at the Santiago Bernabeu as well.
But for now, Kylian Mbappe is at PSG and has a huge contract to play out with them at least for the next two seasons.
