Bengaluru FC beats Hyderabad FC 1-0 in the semifinal for the Durand Cup that was played in the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan this Thursday.
Odei Onainidia smashed one goal that sealed Bengaluru’s place in the finale. They’ll face Mumbai City FC in the finals. It was a competitive game as Bengaluru FC and Hyderabad FC started playing aggressively from the beginning. In the 9th minute, Barthomlow Ogbeche slipped behind the defence but his shot was powerful enough. However, Gurpreet Singh Sandhu passed the goal.
The first half of the game saw only one goal of the match with the powerful combination of Jayesh Rane and Prabir Das. The latter issued a sharp cross for an onrushing upfront for Roy Krishna. The Fijian player couldn’t connect the ball and Odei stretched his legs to find its way into the Hyderabad goal.
In the semifinal, Hyderabad FC had a greater share of ball possession as well as a bigger share of creating opportunities. However, the attackers couldn’t defeat Gurpreet Singh Sandhu in the Bengaluru goal. The Indian international looked very strong and made at least four good saves to keep the score-line in favour of Bengaluru FC.
Hyderabad FC had the first good opportunity in the eighth minute when a miss-pass from Sunil Chhetri beheld Hyderabad’s winger Halicharan Narzary releasing Bartholomew Ogbece unmarked inside the Bengaluru box. His forward attempt was parried by Sandhu and he saved two more attempts of the former player later in this match. Bengaluru FC played well in preserving the one-goal for the entire duration of the action since it was a well-strategised defensive game that made Hyderabad’s attack unconfirmed inside the box.
Bengaluru is now set to meet Mumbai in the finale and will be live streamed on Voot and Jio Tv.
