Fresh out of the box, new AAA games have been priced at approximately $60 for the past 20 years or so. Except for the launch of DLC, players would not need to make any extra purchases to access the entire game. It now appears that several major publishers, including Ubisoft, may start charging $70 for each of their most popular titles.

In an interview with Axios, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that the company would start hiking the price of AAA titles to $70 starting with Skull & Bones this Fall. Some of the games will cost the same as their rivals, according to Guillemot. The cost of the major AAA games is $70.

  • Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Many creators are apprehensive to test out the early process of charging that much for a brand-new AAA game. In addition to the economy’s uncertainty following the recent pandemic, players have already demonstrated that they are resistive to this additional pricing. It is easy to picture how expensive premium or collector’s editions of the game will be if the standard price for games is $70.

The fact that salaries haven’t increased all that much over the past couple of decades is another important point to make. In many US cities, the minimum wage is still $7.25. More people will not be able to enjoy this interest due to the price increase in video games. The price increase should ensure that developers are compensated more for their labor.
