Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup by 31 runs. Sri Lanka gave a tight fight to the Men in Green to score 172 runs and turned the game completely in the last four overs. Wanindu Hasaranga scored 36 runs off 21 balls to bring Sri Lanka back on track. He took three wickets in the 17th over to already seal the win. Rajapaksa’s unbeaten 71 runs off 45 balls turned the tables. Sri Lanka’s total was 170/6 despite them being 67/5 after the first 10 overs.

Wanindu Hasaranga had one of his best career shots with a three-wicket haul and Pathum Nissanka piled up an unbeaten fifty and Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup 2022 in Dubai. SL had a slow start and had scored 29-3 in their chase before Nissanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa had a 51-run stand as the island nation and the former player had scored an unbeaten 55. Rajapaksa fell after his 19-ball knock but Nissanka stood strict and Hasaranga smashed the victory runs.

Earlier, Hasaranga had 3/21 including two balls in a row in the last over, and Sri Lanka’s spin had accounted for 5/60 in 12 overs. Maheesh Theekshana and Dhananjaya de Silva had a figure of 2/21 and 1/18 restricting Pakistan to a below-par total after Dasun Shanaka decided to field. Mohammad Nawaz scored 26 runs off 18 deliveries and Babar Azam was under pressure. Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman scored 14 and 13 respectively. Pakistan also kept losing wickets and Hasaranga finished his spell with two successive wickets that flattened the Pakistani team’s batting at 19.1 overs.
