Chelsea are preparing their fourth bid to try and sign Wesley Fofana from Leicester City. The centre-back won’t be included for their game this weekend, since his focus is still on joining the West London side.
The Frenchman has emerged as the top target in defense for Thomas Tuchel’s side. But, they have already had three bids rejected by the Foxes since he is considered not for sale. The new offer will be worth £75 million, and the structure of the add-ons are being discussed as of right now.
Wesley Fofana determined to join Chelsea
The centre-back missed Leicester’s last game against Southampton as well, after a conversation with Brendan Rodgers. Fofana is keen to make Didier Deschamps’ squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and he is yet to make his debut for France.
He believes that the absence of Champions League football is one of the main reasons behind him not being called up yet. As a result, a move to Chelsea would solve that problem and help him compete with one of the best clubs in the world.
Chelsea will be open to letting Trevoh Chalobah go on loan this summer if they can sign Wesley Fofana. Inter Milan, AC Milan and RB Leipzig are all interested in signing the centre-back on a loan deal. However, the move would only go through if the deal with Leicester achieves breakthrough.
