Memphis Depay’s contract situation with Barcelona remains the same. The player has agreed a release with the Spanish side, but will need to find an agreement with Juventus on a contract first.
Unless the Dutchman can agree a deal with the Bianconeri, the termination will not be complete. And so far, it is a work in progress between the two parties as they continue to discuss the terms involved for a potential free transfer.
Memphis Depay yet to secure release from Barcelona
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, alongside Memphis Depay, has been deemed surplus to requirements by the club. Both forwards need to be offloaded in order to register Jules Kounde with La Liga, since they don’t have space on their wage bill as things stand.
Having surrendered his number 9 shirt to Robert Lewandowski, it seems quite certain that Depay would be leaving Barcelona before the end of the transfer window. With a number of important forwards available this season, it seems unlikely that the player will get a chance even if he were to stay. However, despite interest from several other clubs, nothing has come to pass yet.
If Juventus want to sign the player they will have to hurry up. Or else, other teams could enter the picture and sign him after discussing personal terms. In all likelihood, Depay’s future will be decided within this week as the deadline approaches fast.
