Gotham Knights: First 16-Minutes Gameplay Trailer sheds more light on the Games Mechanics

The upcoming Gotham Knights video game from WB Games Montreal has a lot to live up to considering that it must continue the almost universally adored Arkham franchise and alleviate fan fears over the game’s shift to a more open-world RPG idea. IGN today released the first 16 minutes of Gotham Knights, which might assuage some Bat fans’ concerns.

The video focuses on Batgirl, who is charged with investigating Gotham University because Dr. Kirk Langstrom is acting strangely. Gotham Knights allow you to choose which of its four protagonists you wish to play as (aka Man-Bat, for those in the know). In-depth detective/puzzle elements are demonstrated in the movie, along with visually stunning animations.

After a while, a gang of troublemakers appear, giving the game the chance to demonstrate its combat system. Fighting bad guys appears to be rather easy and fluid, and stealth mechanics like those in Arkham also make a comeback. Meanwhile, it appears that RPG-style metrics, health bars, etc. have lost their importance.

Put yourself in the shoes of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin to mold Gotham’s newest guardian and make your own Dark Knight in the new Gotham Knights Game.

This new generation of heroes will use the Belfry as their headquarters of operations to unravel mysteries that link the darkest periods in Gotham’s history, from its towering structures to its clandestine criminal underworld. Engage in fascinating narratives that feature fights with some of the most notorious DC Super-Villains, such as Mr. Freeze, who is out to cover Gotham City in ice.

In a dynamic, interactive Gotham, you can use the legendary Batcycle, a range of navigation skills, heroic combat maneuvers, and more to patrol the gloomy streets of five different boroughs. Stop the city from degenerating into anarchy by engaging in street-level crime fighting and epic battles with legendary DC Super-Villains.

Each hero has their special skills, equipment, weaponry, and outfit. Red Hood has trained to reach peak human strength, Batgirl employs her melee tonfa, Nightwing uses his dual Escrima Sticks, and Robin is proficient with his foldable quarterstaff.

Play Gotham Knights solo or team up with a friend and combine strengths to protect Gotham City in a two-player, online co-op.
