Manchester United are set to play Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. And Cristiano Ronaldo will be returning to the squad after a lengthy absence due to family issues. This has been confirmed by the player himself on social media, as he commented “Sunday the king plays.”
The forward has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford all summer. He recently hit back at the media and their speculation, calling them liars. This was in response to a post that said his agent, Jorge Mendes, walked out of a meeting unhappy and that an exit was imminent.
Cristiano Ronaldo to return to Manchester United squad
The 37-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid in recent weeks. However, all three clubs have seemingly ruled out a move for the veteran.
As a result, his future remains uncertain ahead of a season where United will be playing in the Europa League. There have been several reports that suggest Jorge Mendes is willing to agree to a 30% pay cut for his client in search of Champions League football. However nothing concrete has been agreed for Cristiano Ronaldo as of yet.
United and Rayo Vallecano are actually in negotiations with former Chelsea striker Diego Costa over a free transfer. But, the player is yet to make his final decision over the next chapter of his career.
