Former Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas is set to join Italian second division side Como soon. The player has reached an agreement with the club over a two-year contract and will be signing until June 2024.
The club has former Chelsea player Dennis Wise as their head of sporting operations. Como finished 13th last season, and are anticipating a boost in performances owing to the arrival of the Spaniard.
Cesc Fabregas to join Como on two-year deal
The 35-year-old confirmed that he would be leaving Monaco earlier this summer: “It’s certain that it’s finished between me and Monaco.
“My contract expires in June and I am looking to depart. My head needs a departure elsewhere.”
He then continued: “It’s been not only the worst year of my career but the worst year of my life because when I’m not happy in football, I can’t be happy in life.
“I have suffered a lot this year; it’s been difficult mentally.”
After suffering a bad hamstring injury, Cesc Fabregas was only able to make five appearances for Monaco this past season. He has been vocal about his frustrations, and is now trying to get back to a better level with his move to Como.
The medical for the transfer will take place in August, and once the formalities have been completed, the deal will be made official.
