Cristiano Ronaldo could be on his way out of Manchester United this summer. But as of right now, his next destination seems very unclear. Clubs like Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have already made it clear that they are not interested.
The Portugal captain’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is reportedly willing to negotiate a 30% pay cut for his client if he is to move to a top club. The forward hasn’t joined Manchester United’s pre-season camp as of yet. As a result, speculation surrounding his future remains high.
Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid?
“The situation is the same as last week. Maybe worried is not the right word. I’m focusing on the players who are here, who are doing very well, who are in good shape and I will focus on that,” Ten Hag declared.
“I can’t wait to see if Ronaldo comes, but if he does, we will integrate him into the team.”
It would be an interesting situation if Real Madrid’s all-time top scorer would play for their rivals. However, given his limited options to play in the Champions League this season, a move to Wanda Metropolitano is seeming the most likely option.
However, Atletico Madrid’s president has made no indication of the team being remotely interested in signing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. As a result, Cristiano Ronaldo could be playing Europa League football with Manchester United if he ends up staying for the season.
