Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal revealed that the company is busy developing its own battery cell and that this will be the first of many. The CEO recently began a discussion with respect to the company’s goals that seem to be aligned with the battery technology sector. He tweeted a clip of a battery that carried the Ola logo. Let us see what the battery from Ola features.
Ola’s Lithium battery is similar to those used in the S1 Pro EV:
The S1 Pro, the premier EV from the brand features a 3.97 kWh battery which enables the bike to travel an impressive distance of 180KM on a single charge. Riders have reported that with the latest MoveOS 2.0 upgrade, they could ride in Eco Mode for nearly double that distance or 300 KM on a single charge.
This cell is a first for the brand as it has not attempted to do something of this nature before. The CEO claims that they are just getting started and it has a lot more to offer in terms of battery technology. As of now, LG Korea is the leading supplier of the 3.97 kWh battery pack used by Ola. The 224 cell components in this battery are NMC cells or Lithium-Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt oxide ones. In addition to this, they also have multiple sensors that measure, analyze, and carry out various operations.
The electric vehicle maker carries out development and manufacturing operations internally and is figuring out the best way to do so. This is likely to enable businesses to control production costs, slide past issues with the supply chain, better manage innovation and ensure long-term growth. The brand has also made it possible to connect this fact to its long-term vision of wanting to make its own batteries for its vehicles. LFP cells are stable and much more affordable to make. The stability of these cells is something that Ola is counting on owing to the most recent EV fires in its bikes.
The battery specifications are not yet out, however, it will be more or less the same as the one featured in the S1 electric.
