According to renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are not considering a move for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portugal captain has been linked with an exit from Manchester United after he asked the club for a transfer if a suitable bid arrives.
Jorge Mendes was in talks with the new owner of Chelsea, Todd Boehly, over a potential move. But now, it seems that first team manager Thomas Tuchel is not keen on bringing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to the club as of right now.
Cristiano Ronaldo not the priority for Chelsea right now
The German has been given more control of transfers due to the change in ownership. And as a result, he has been choosing players that will fit his style of play – mainly to minimise chances of a disaster like Romelu Lukaku happening again.
The Blues are focused on signing other players right now. Presnel Kimpembe and Nathan Ake are the top targets right now, after the transfers of Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly were finalised. Serge Gnabry is also one of the names on the list for the West London side. But, he is negotiating a new contract with Bayern Munich.
Due to Lukaku’s return to Inter Milan, Chelsea are without a recognised number 9. They are seemingly moving to a False-9 formation led by either Kai Havertz or Raheem Sterling, according to Tuchel himself. And a move for Cristiano Ronaldo would push the team into a different direction.
