Owen Wijndal has completed his move to Ajax, with the left-back signing a five-year contract until 2027. The player’s arrival has been confirmed by the club on their official website. He was one of their top transfer targets for the summer, and has now completed the move from AZ Alkmaar.

Ajax will be paying AZ a sum worth €10 million for the player. He was the second top target for the team after Steven Bergwijn, who joined the Dutch side from Tottenham Hotspur.

This past season, Owen Wijndal made 31 appearances for AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch league. He contributed to 11 goals for the team, and also became a regular for the Netherlands national team under Frank de Boer.

But, he is yet to feature under Louis Van Gaal, having contributed three assists for the national team during his limited run. The 22-year-old is very highly rated, and has been likened to Liverpool’s Andy Robertson. With Ajax’s reputation for developing young players, the youngster could hit new heights at his new club.

Several top players are leaving Ajax this summer, with the likes of Andre Onana, Ryan Gravenberch, Noussair Mazraoui and Sebastian Haller already at new clubs. Lisandro Martinez and Antony are in talks for a move to Manchester United, although an agreement is yet to be reached.
