Ambrose Island, a brand-new map for Hitman 3, will be made available to all players as free DLC on July 26th, according to IO Interactive’s July roadmap. Since the game’s debut in January of last year, this is the first brand-new map.
Ambrose Island appears to be a seedy, tropical place ruled by a renegade outcast based on the trailer. According to IO Interactive, the map features a “hidden cove, home to a dangerous pirate syndicate operating in the Andaman Sea and to many hidden secrets,” making it a “fully explorable sandbox location.” There will also be some new objectives, obstacles, and rewards to overcome.
IO Interactive first previewed the map — codenamed “Rocky” at the time — as part of its year two reveal earlier this year. In May, the game studio announced that it had pushed Ambrose Island’s release date up to make up for the delay of Hitman 3’s upcoming roguelike mode, called Freelancer. The new model will now launch in the second half of this year instead of the spring of 2022, as originally planned.
In its roadmap, IO Interactive also described some additional changes. Vicente Murillo has been added as the current Elusive Target, with Wen Ts’ai scheduled to make a comeback on July 15th, and Himmapan Hotel has been switched in as the game’s free rotating destination until July 17th.
