Eoin Morgan, who’s considered the most successful captain of England in white-ball cricket, is reportedly planning to take retirement from international cricket. Morgan is the main man who changed England’s perspective on limited-overs cricket.
As per reports, Eoin Morgan is set to announce his retirement from international cricket this Tuesday according to a BBC report.
How Eoin Morgan changed England’s destiny in international cricket?
After England was eliminated by Bangladesh in the group stage of the 2015 ICC World Cup in Australia, Morgan was named the captain of the Ireland national team. Morgan picked a large group of gifted young players that elevated the attacking game in ODIs and T20Is. In the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup in India was the first opportunity to see this new England team, as Morgan’s team advanced to the final before being defeated by West Indies He mustered a total of 7701 runs in 248 ODIs, hitting 14 centuries and 47 fifties.

Morgan just withdrew from the last ODI against the Netherlands owing to injury. He has been struggling with bad form and physical issues for which he decided to quit his international cricket career.
Moeen Ali, expressed his grief regarding Morgan’s retirement. “He’s done a remarkable job. It is a shame. It is strange to comprehend the side without him. Things move on and you have to get used to it, but it is sad. I’m not surprised at the same time because he is a very selfless person and probably is thinking about the team more than anything,”
In 2019 and 2020, Morgan displayed some of his finest play of his career, Since the beginning of 2021, he has played 48 innings of domestic and international white-ball cricket and has only scored one half-century. Against the Netherlands, he played two innings without scoring a run. This compelled him to take retirement from international cricket.
