James Rodriguez is holding out for a return to European football this season. The midfielder spent the previous season in Qatar with Al Rayyan. But now, he will be moving on from them and possibly, back where he made a name for himself.
“The transfer market will open soon, we’ll see,” the former Real Madrid man said. “Returning to elite football is a serious possibility. Let’s see who wants my left foot again.”
James Rodriguez still pushing for European return
The Colombian provided five goals and seven assists in 15 games for Al Rayyan this past season. He spent the 20/21 season at Everton under Carlo Ancelotti, where he had a very bright start before injuries started taking their toll on the player.
The 30-year-old will not be able to represent his country in the World Cup this year, since they didn’t qualify. But, improved performances from him could earn him back a regular place in the team.
Botofago have made a proposal to James Rodriguez, but he has not accepted their offer as of yet. He does not want to play in the Brazilian league as of yet, since he is waiting for a better offer to arrive before making his final decision.
The transfer window is long, and there is still enough time for him to decide his next club in the coming weeks.
