Florentin Pogba has agreed a deal to sign for ATK Mohun Bagan, in a rather shocking revelation for Indian football. The player had a year of contract remaining with French second division club Sochaux-Montbeliard. But he decided to move on from his home country and join the Indian Super League.
The last name might seem very familiar to many, and Florentin is the older brother of France international Paul Pogba. Interestingly, Paul Pogba sealed a return to Juventus from Manchester United only yesterday.
Florentin Pogba to join ATK Mohun Bagan
The 31-year-old defender leaves the club after two seasons and 62 Ligue 2 matches.
His now former club have confirmed the decision in an official statement: “Florentin Pogba leaves Sochaux-Montbeliard. One year from the end of his contract, the Guinean International wanted to discover a new championship and was transferred to ATK Mohun Bagan FC, which plays in the Indian championship.”
The defender’s transfer to ATK Mohun Bagan has been confirmed by his former club. And now, it is seemingly only a matter of time before the Green and Maroon side announce the move from their end.
The Mariners have recently signed Brendan Hamill from Melbourne Victory, and have also confirmed the arrival of Vishal Kaith to bolster the team. A new defender in Florentin Pogba would provide Juan Ferrando with several key options in the coming season.
