FC Goa have confirmed the signing of striker Alvaro Vazquez on a two-year deal. The player joins from Kerala Blasters, after helping them reach the final last year. He scored eight goals and provided two assists and is now one of the new signings for the Gaurs ahead of the new season.
The Spaniard’s signing has been made official by the club on their social media profiles too. The presence of a recognised goalscorer like Vasquez will be great news for fans of the club, who have had to endure a disappointing 21/22 campaign.
Alvaro Vazquez signs for FC Goa
“I’m extremely happy to join FC Goa,” Alvaro Vazquez told fcgoa.in after signing on the dotted line. “The club has an ambitious project and a playing style that I love. Having spoken to the Club officials and Edu (Bedia), I was convinced that I can be the best version of myself here.
“For me, Goa is one of the biggest clubs in the Indian Super League. Last season might not have been the best for the club, but I believe we will surely move back to the top this coming season. I have heard and seen the fans of Goa, who love football. I want to experience playing at Fatorda. Honestly, I can’t wait to play my first game in the club’s colours”.
The Gaurs have appointed Carlos Pena as their new head coach and are heading into a new campaign with strong ambitions of turning things around from the last time out.
