Mohamed Salah could be tempted by a move to Barcelona once his contract with Liverpool runs out. The winger has been in talks with the board for a new contract these last few months, but is yet to finalise a renewal.
The financial aspect of the deal is one of the things that is preventing the two parties from reaching the final agreement. Salah’s current contract runs out in June 2023, and he has confirmed that he will be staying at Liverpool for the coming season, rejecting all the bids in the summer.
Mohamed Salah in tricky situation surrounding club future
But while the Egyptian has made his feelings clear about a future at Liverpool, Sadio Mane has made his intention to walk out of the team known as well. The Senegalese wants to leave Anfield this summer, after spending six years with the Merseyside club.
If Mohamed Salah does not agree to a new deal with Liverpool, he will be able to walk out as a free agent. Considering the value of the player, it would be the worst case scenario for the club financially.
But with Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota at the club, they already have potential replacements who are younger as well.
Currently, Barcelona are in no financial shape to sign a player like Salah. But in a year’s time, things could be different and he could be on his way to another European giant for free.
