The report of April this year says Spotify leads the online music streaming market globally. Though area or country wise it can’t compete with the local platforms. Because the locals know the local interest more. But Spotify continuously trying to get into it. At least in India.
The global leader is taking the Old is Gold policy and brings the 70s and 80s Indian Oldies for you. Spotify signed a licensing deal with Saregama to make this move possible. Now, Spotify can add the retro playlists which cover songs of over 25 languages and from almost all fields.
More than 100,000 Indian retro songs are added to Spotify. The team is already engaged to categorize those songs as per almost all possible parameters link singers, actors, and more. This is to serve customers with quick access to their interests.
Mr. Paul Smith, the Director of Global Licensing of Spotify mentioned in an official statement, “Now, with the full Saregama catalogue available on Spotify India, our users will not only find their favorite retro music across local languages, but also be able to discover more old-school songs through Spotify’s locally curated playlists – both editorial and algorithmic,”
In short, Spotify is preparing itself to give a hard competition to our local online music streaming platforms like Gaana. Hope, the race will bring more benefits to the users.
