Barcelona youngster Gavi is set to finalise his contract extension with the club in the coming days. The midfielder will be signing a new contract with a €1 billion release clause, rendering him completely out of the transfer market.
Xavi commented on the contract extension of the talented teenager, and here is what he had to say: “Both sides want to continue together, so it’d be great news for Barça fans. It’s very important for us to keep Gavi”.
“He’s part of the future project, I’ve a great relationship with his agent. We’re on it”.
Gavi to renew Barcelona contract at last
Born in 2004, Gavi has had a breakthrough season this year. The midfielder has been a spark for the first team and has been able to feature for Luis Enrique’s Spain national team as well. Alongside fellow La Masia graduate Pedri, he is set to be the star of the midfield at Barcelona.
A meeting between Gavi’s agent, Ivan de la Pena and the Barcelona board, is set to be held next week. All the final details will be discussed at length before the extension is made official.
Barcelona have already extended the contract of Ronald Araujo after a lot of questions about his future. And they are very positive that they can secure the future of one of their most talented young prospects for the coming years as well.
