Goa Pro League red flagged corrupt for betting for the 3rd consecutive season

Six matches out of ten in the last month have been flagged for betting in Goa. The integrity partners of the Goa Pro League, Genius Sports, have identified suspicious betting partners between March 15 to 24. These patterns are indicative of match fixing, and have plagued the sport in Goa for the third consecutive season.

The league was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic at the start of the year. However, since it’s resumption in March, bettors have received prior information on how the matches would start and end. And they have been enjoying huge profits as a result.

Goa Pro League flagged for betting once again

Match fixing is the worst kept secret in Goan football. A majority of the matches in the Goa Pro League have been manipulated. Read. https://t.co/622ll5WGkY

Six matches were graded Red since the restart, which is when suspicious betting patterns are found before and during the game.

Genius Sports uses a Sports Integrity Monitor to keep track of the betting patterns and the odds across global betting markets. It raises alerts whenever certain thresholds are reached, and this was the case yet again for the Goa Pro League for the third year running.

Former Goa chief Minister and owner of Churchill Brothers, Churchill Alemao experienced the suspectful betting patterns himself. His team was 2-0 up at half time, but the betting odds showed 18/1 for an unlikely win for Velsao. They ended up winning the game 3-2, justifying the odds for the trailing team.
