Carlo Ancelotti has personally asked Florentino Perez to sign Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea. The Germany international is out of a contract with the London club at the end of the season. He has decided to leave the club since the situation surrounding the new owners has not yet been sorted out.

Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also in the race for the centre-back. But now, Real Madrid are leading the race for him now that he is set to leave Chelsea. His arrival would help bolster the defense, with Real Madrid needing options other than Eder Militao and David Alaba in central defense.

Ancelotti asks for Real Madrid to sign Antonio Rudiger

Antonio Rüdiger will leave Chelsea on a free transfer as he can’t wait more than 2 months for new owners. No bid on the table. He’s always been respectful – but it’s time for a new challenge. It’s over. 🔵 #CFC

The Italian will be needing reinforcements this summer, and this would also allow David Alaba to move out to left-back. Since Marcelo will be leaving the club at the end of the season and Ferland Mendy is battling fitness issues, Alaba could provide additional cover due to his versatility.

Antonio Rudiger has been one of the most important players for Thomas Tuchel this season. And now that the German has decided to leave, he will join Andreas Christensen through the exit door as the second centre-back to leave the club.

Although Rudiger tried to stay as respectful as he could with the Blues, he has now decided that it is time for a new challenge. Chelsea will need to spend in the transfer market to sign an appropriate replacement for their best defensive player.
